Having Trouble Understanding

I don't understand other humans. They confuse me, especially the younger generation. Then again, I'm a 19 year old social outcast/nerd. So, maybe its because I never grew up with a normal group of friends. Never joined a club or team. I just read all day long. Perhaps I am missing the social events a young person needed in order to be normal. Then again, I hate the idea of being normal.

Back to the point. I believe that the newest generation is 99% stupid and 1% intelligent.

I grew bored this evening and went to ten different websites and read ten different threads, with the basic title of "What do you want to do when you grow up?" A large percentage of the posters in these threads were girls. What was the result? To sum it up, it was 90% model/actress/singer and 10% Other.

Except on the two horse websites I went to. Then, it was 70% model/actress/singer and 30% horse racer/breeder/caretaker.

On the race occasion, I saw someone who wanted to be a pilot. A police woman. A teacher. I even found one who wanted to be a chemist. However, what saddened me was that the total number of people who were even in this catagory was around 20 out of at least a thousand young girls between the ages of ten and fifteen.

When I was their age, I wanted to be a mathematician and a pilot, preferably for the military. As I got older, I realized that I wasn't good enough to be a wonderful mathematician so I went toward being a pilot and writer as well as photographer. Travel the world, etc.

Mathematician, model. You can see the very large gap in difference between the two fields.

What I don't understand is why the newest generation all want to be models, a career that is hard to get into and stay with, especially if you want to become a big named model or actress. I figured that out when I was only four. What is taking these young girls so long to figure that out? As for the horse lovers who want to be jockeys, all of them basically said, "I'm short and small so I'll be a jockey." They are ten. They are not done growing. There are these things called "growth spurts".

One could argue that they are young or that I shouldn't mock someone who wants to follow their dreams. By all mean, follow your dreams. What I am wondering is how such a large percentage of girls could all want to go into the same exact career field, and a hard career field at that. Why do all of them what to do the same thing? Is it because of the media? Of peer pressure? ...I blame the media.

Then again, as I said earlier, I grew up a social outcast who quit public school because she got too busy going to college. I never had a group of 'girlfriends'. Never dated. Nothing. So, perhaps I don't understand because I didn't grow up in their social enviorment.

But, after thinking about it, I don't want to understand. 'cause I hate blending in with the crowd.
